I only saw him in platinum blond but he sure left a impression on me. Not really cute, not really handsome but his acting was so refreshing and real.

Dana Andrews was a great actor. Yes he couldn’t get parts due to his drinking habits. He also couldn’t get parts because at the time the new form of acting came during the 1950s method acting. In which Dana couldn’t be a method actor. Also Dana was typecast in film noir. In which film noir was dwindling during the 50s. The 1950s took a drastic change back then and he couldn’t get any major roles since then. I still consider Dana Andrews as a fine actor.

He died the day I turned eleven years old. There were a lot of classic/golden age figures from cinema still alive back then.

Why haven't I ever heard of him???? He was huge....

I love watching him in anything he did. I think he was quite a handsome man when he was younger. But he definitely had the face of a character actor, with those beetle brows. Uncle Chris in I Remember Mama was the best!

A few weeks ago, I visited Dick Lane's grave at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar CA. He still has no gravestone.
